Cousin Chaos

Okay so it wasn't chaos but it was at least a good alliteration. There was definitely action which is destined to happen when you have five kids together. The Kamloops clan came down to visit. We met up with the kids, grandma and grandpa at the lake. The kids got to try out the sit-on kayak and have some beach fun. We barbequed dinner on the beach and then retreated back to our place for a campfire and roasted marshmallows. It is always great to get the kids together. Vanessa really enjoyed playing with Makai.

Picked a Peck of Peaches

We headed home after a fun visit with Mom and Dave. Thank you. On our hunt for more U-pick, we found one in the heart of Westbank. We were only allowed to pick peaches but there were so good looking pears and plums growing too. Yummy. Again, the girls had a great experience learning where their food is coming from.

I love this picture

Lavender, Cherries and Goats, OH MY

We are not in the land of Oz but the OK. The girls and I stayed with Mom and Dave in Westbank and took them on a tour across the lake. We went to a lavender and herb farm. The girls got to keep busy doing a scavenger hunt with Dave's help while Mom and I walked around looking at the beautiful flowers and smelling the lavender and other herbs.

Next stop, Cherries! A new experience for the girls, we picked our own cherries. The girls enjoyed doing it and the trees were so full it didn't take long for us to fill a bucket.

On our hunt for more U-Pick fruit, we came across this goat farm that sold cheese. We did a cheese tasting. Vanessa liked all but one which is pretty good for a kid, I think. We ended up buying some and then we checked out where it came from.

Peaches and Grape Tour

After our cycling trip, Heather and I picked up some peaches at a road side stand and went to three wineries. The peaches were a nice treat after an afternoon ride. Heather really liked the Mission Hill Winery for its bell tower and beautiful grounds.

Fantastic Cycling Trip

Heather and I went to cycle the Myra Canyon. It is part of the Kettle Valley Railway Trail. A lot of the trestles were destroyed during the Kelowna Park Fire but have since been rebuilt, We biked over 22 kilometres, went over 18 trestles twice and went through two dark tunnels twice as well. It was a lot of fun. We have been planning this activity for a while and two days before we were suppose to go, Heather's bike chain kept falling off. We decided to get her a new bike. Quite the step up for her as she moved up to 18 speeds (from one) and hand brakes. She did fantastic. It was an amazing trip which we will definitely have to do again. Don't forget to click on the video. It was hard to ride and take video with a cellphone on the trestle. I don't recommend it.

At the end. Our halfway point.
