More Critters in the Yard and House

It all started with a big, huge lump on the driveway. I was coming home when it was dark and we saw this baseball mitt sized thing shining in the headlights on the driveway. It ended up being the largest toad I have ever seen. He took a long time to move off to the side.

We then woke up one morning to find the cat staring at the fireplace. He wouldn't take his eyes off it which needless to say weird for him to be attentive about anything. We head a shuffle and I was certain it was a mouse in the fireplace vent but we didn't see anything. I decided to look inside the fireplace behind the glass doors and we found a confused swallow. It had very pretty coloring. We were able to get it into the bowl and cover it to take outside. It stayed in the bowl long enough to take some photos and then it took off.

April is frog mating season around here. Last year I posted how loud it is. Here are some of the culprits.

Bear Scrap in Our Yard

We had a few visitors come out of hibernation. We had two bears fighting in the middle of our yard for 5-10 minutes. It was really cool to watch but it was twilight so the pictures are pretty much dark shadows.

They are fighting again in this one
