The Night Before Heather's Big Trip

Heather was leaving for Disneyland early in the morning so we decided to stay at a hotel near the airport so we could ensure that we would make it on time. It was also handy to take the shuttle there and back since I had to bring Vanessa along. We had a nice dinner the night before.

More Water Fun

Vanessa had another day of canoeing but this time it was sunny. She got thrown in at the end and Todd had a hard time getting her out of the lake after that. Glad the weather has improved.

Somebody's Watching Me

Ever get that feeling that someone is watching you? I did and then I heard the rustling in the bushes. At first, I think bear and Jigs jumps the ditch to go after it. We realize that it is a family of five. Raccoons. Jigs had chased them up a tree. They were eyeing up the chickens and were determined not to go anywhere. We had a two hour stand off. I learned, I have really bad aim with rocks and they enjoyed getting sprayed by the hose that warm afternoon.

Kayak Day for Vanessa

Today Vanessa tried out kayaking. She really loved it. It was a beautiful day and it was a lot of fun for her to fall in the water too!

She fell in twice but she was determined to stand

Another Creature in the Yard

Vanessa found this garter snake on the lawn and surprised me by screaming and running away. That's a first considering we have pictures of her at 2 years old with a snake around her neck. Heather and Todd were more brave and I, well, just took the pictures.

Todd was staining the porch at the time so he would like to explain that that is why he is wearing the gloves

It was Vanessa's turn to try canoeing. It was a wet miserable day but there were lots of smiles.

Canada Day Activities

We decided to go into town to partake in some Canada Day activities. We went to a museum and they had many exhibits to look at and a lovely carousel to ride.
